Hostels are a great way to meet other travelers and save money, but did you know you could work at almost any hostel in exchange for a free bed? Although you won't get paid, there are many ways to work in a hostel, from reception and cleaning, to cooking and leading pub crawls. If you're traveling and need a place to stay, it's best to just ask, but if you like to plan ahead there are many hostels that have volunteer programs you can sign up for in advanced.
